GATLINBURG - The fourth annual Heritage Arts & Crafts Days (formerly Heritage on Display) will run through Labor Day, Sept. 5.
More than 90 shops, restaurants, and family-owned businesses are on the Glades loop, which is located just outside downtown Gatlinburg. The area is the only zoned craft community in the United States.
Among the demonstrations visitors may see are painting, candy making, quilting, weaving, broom making, candle dipping and pottery making. Most demonstrations will take place daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Live bluegrass and mountain music concerts will be held each day of the event by different performers in the arts and crafts community. Storytellers Mike and Kathy Gwinn will tell tales about Dolly Parton, Wiley Oakley, the formation of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Cherokee stories and legends.
The 150-year-old cabin in which the late Lucinda Ogle had resided will be open to the public for the first time. Self-guided tours will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
